Get Involved! Join the Mental Health Ambassador Program
July 21, 2026
Our upcoming season is in development — and right now, before a single episode airs, we want you to help shape it. We’re in our user research phase, and what we hear from real people during this time will directly inform where the season goes and what it tackles.
Because this isn’t just about making mental health support more available. It’s about understanding why so many people who need mental health care never receive it — and doing something meaningful about it. The individuals most often left behind deserve more than awareness. They deserve real engagement, real solutions, and a platform built with them in mind.
That’s why we’re building something different — a national, community-powered platform designed to uncover and overcome the hidden barriers that keep people from engaging in mental health care. Not another awareness campaign. A real, participatory movement where lived experience, crowdsourced insight, and authentic storytelling drive meaningful change.
At the center of that movement are our Mental Health Ambassadors — and we’re looking for two distinct groups of people to help lead the way. Select individuals who participate in the user research phase may also be invited to continue their involvement throughout the full season.
For Community Members: Become a Mental Health Ambassador
You don’t need a degree or a platform. You need a perspective and a willingness to show up.
Mental Health Ambassadors are everyday people — advocates, creatives, emerging leaders, and changemakers — who want to contribute their voice to an honest, community-driven conversation about mental health in America.
All Ambassadors engage by:
- Connecting with users through forums, chats, and social media
- Encouraging participation and idea-sharing within the community
- Amplifying content and conversations that matter
- Supporting a solutions-oriented environment where real change can take root
Beyond that, there are several ways to participate:
Platform & Community Engagement + Social Media Advocacy — Engage on our platform and across social media to drive the conversation, connect community members, and amplify the voices and stories that need to be heard.
On-Camera Roundtable Discussions — In addition to platform and social engagement, selected Ambassadors will participate in filmed roundtable discussions: guided but authentic, experience-led conversations exploring the real barriers people face in accessing mental health care — topics like stigma, financial access, cultural and family beliefs, identity, and the influence of social media.
News & Insights Reporting — Ambassadors on the News & Insights team help surface, curate, and report on relevant mental health stories, research, and developments. This includes identifying emerging conversations within our community and helping contextualize them for a broader audience.
VR / Immersive Storytelling — This is a unique and powerful opportunity to help us build an empathy experience unlike anything else. We’re looking for individuals willing to share what it was like for them at the height of a mental health struggle — and what it was like to seek care, both the challenges and the breakthroughs. Your story will be brought to life through an immersive environment where you appear as an avatar, helping others understand the mental health journey from the inside. We welcome people who’ve had both positive and negative experiences with mental health care. This experience is about honesty — not perfection.
Community Moderation — Community Moderators (must be 18+) perform human review of discussions, chats, and forums to ensure our community’s Rules of Engagement are being upheld. This includes providing redirection when needed, issuing warnings, and escalating or disabling accounts that violate community standards. Moderators are a critical part of keeping this platform safe, inclusive, and solutions-focused.
Who we’re looking for: Our primary target is individuals ages 16–32 residing in the United States — though those as young as 13 may participate with guardian permission, and adults of all ages are welcome to apply. We especially want to hear from communities that are too often left out of the mental health conversation: men, racial and ethnic minority communities, rural populations, immigrants, and adults who didn’t finish high school or who never had the opportunity to pursue higher education.
There are no follower counts or quotas. Quality of engagement matters far more than quantity. If you care about mental health access and want to help build something that lasts, you belong here.
For Mental Health Experts & Advanced Students: Share Your Knowledge
If you’re a licensed mental health professional, clinician, researcher, or advanced-degree student in a mental health field, we have a specific and meaningful role for you.
This platform is intentionally non-clinical — it’s a community space, not a therapy room. But responsible, expert-informed engagement is at the heart of how we operate. Expert roles include:
Community Moderation — Provide human oversight of platform discussions, chats, and forums, ensuring conversations remain within our Rules of Engagement and that participants feel safe and supported.
Expert Guidance — Provide light-touch, on-platform or social media guidance to user-generated discussions, and support our News & Insights team with expert perspective on mental health topics and developments.
Expert Guidance + On-Camera — All of the above, with the addition of on-camera participation in select roundtable discussions or season content where professional perspective adds meaningful depth to the conversation.
This is an opportunity to reach communities that traditional care settings often don’t — and to be part of building something genuinely new.
Ambassador Training
All Ambassadors participate in a structured training program developed in partnership with our partners. Training prepares participants for responsible digital engagement, community facilitation, on-camera storytelling, and safe, thoughtful participation in sensitive mental health conversations. It’s practical, skills-based, and designed to develop real leaders.
What to Expect After You Apply
All interested candidates will be invited to a brief interview to help us understand your background, interests, and how you’d best contribute. We want to make sure every Ambassador is set up for a meaningful experience — and that means finding the right fit on both sides. Please note that we reserve the right to decline any application without providing a specific reason.
